Yeastie Girlz vs. The Mentors
This is the legendary show on March 2, 1990 at Gilman Street in Berkeley, California where the Yeastie Girlz opened for the Mentors, who were a violent, misogynist bunch of dudes from LA.
We often talk about the male-dominated punk scene that inspired us to get up on stage to throw some radical in-your-face feminist attitudes into the macho, girls-in-the-back experience at a lot of the shows. This recording is a great example of what it was like sometimes.
Songs: 1. Bitch Twitch/Yeast Power 2. Put A Lid On It 3. Sperm Brain 4. Die Yuppie Scum 5. Oh My Achin' Pussy 6. Fuck Yerself
Performing at this show: Joyce Jimenez, Kate (Rosenberger) Razo and Cammie Toloui

Yeastie Girlz on the Live 105 Alex Bennett Show
The Yeastie Girlz were interviewed on the Alex Bennett Show on Live 105 in San Francisco on July 1st, 1988. Alex was nervous about losing his job if we said words on the air that were deemed unacceptable. Words like tampon and finger were apparently too radical and of course the usual fuck, shit and other common words were forbidden. Singing our songs without those words were tricky but we managed it.
The live show had a few seconds of delay and Alex had a magic button he could press that would erase a second or two from the broadcast and boy was he jumpy. You can hear it in the first song Yeast Power, where he pressed it a few times for no good reason.
Besides Yeast Power, we sang Put A Lid On It and The FCC song, and Cammie played Iron Man on the unmentionable tampon.
Performing are Kate (Rosenberger) Razo, Jane Guskin and Cammie Toloui

Yeastie Girlz Demo Tape
Live performances from Gilman Street in Berkeley, California November 1st and 29th, 1987. Also, the FCC Rap was recorded during an interview on KALX radio in Berkeley.
This was the demo tape that we put out after appearing in the MaximumRocknRoll Magazine 7" EP Turn It Around.
We put an ad in the magazine with the title "Suck My Smelly Vagina" - selling our demo tape for $2 which included "special yukky prizes". Usually, the yukky prizes were tampons (and the cassette tape) soaking in red goo, forcing the receiver to interact with a taboo reality faced by half of the population of the earth.
Performing on these recordings: Jane Guskin, Joyce Jimenez and Cammie Toloui

Ovary Action
In April 1988, Cammie, Kate, and Jane recorded Ovary Action, the Yeastie Girlz 7” EP on the Lookout! Records label. Most of our songs are on there, except for Yeast Power, Get Your Hands Off My Body and That Time of the Month.
We threw the cover song in there, and since it was before the internet, we had to take a guess at the lyrics of Orgasm Addict. We got pretty close!

This was recorded in Pleasant Hill, California at the recording studio inside Diablo Valley College because Cammie's step-father worked as the engineer there. The live performance of Ode An Die Freude was recorded at the Julia Morgan Theater in Berkeley, California.

Sue Your Friends
The Yeastiez did a show at Gilman Street called Prom Night. It was our last show with Jane, who was moving away. We rarely performed Sue Your Friends but we did it at this show and got the audience singing it in rounds at the end. Classic!
Performing at this show: Jane Guskin, Kate (Rosenberger) Razo and Cammie Toloui

You Suck
In 1992 Kate and Cammie were approached by the members of the industrial dance band Consolidated, asking if we would like to collaborate on a song with them. They gave us a cassette tape with different beats on it and we chose one thinking it would sound good with our song You Suck.

At the time, Joyce and Jane were in different parts of the world, so we asked our friend the poet, spoken word artist and radical love activist Wendy-O-Matik if she wanted to be an honorary Yeastie Girl for the recording.

The track was released on the album Play More Music, published by Nettwerk and soon became a hit in dance clubs and on the radio worldwide.
